PRESS RELEASE — Plan-B Theatre’s mission is to develop and produce unique and socially conscious theatre. Meat & Potato Theatre’s mission is to tell powerful stories in the most compelling way possible. Combine the two and it’s the perfect laboratory for new work!
The second round (2010-2012) of the Plan-B Theatre/Meat & Potato Theatre Playwrights Lab will commence in September in Salt Lake City with 6 new playwrights:
- Carleton Bluford, Actor (most recently seen in Plan-B’s WALLACE)
- Beth Bruner, Co-Chair, Holladay Arts Council
- Isabella Iasella, MA, Comparative Literature, University of Utah
- Guy Lebeda, Literary Arts Manager, Utah Arts Council
- Jim Martin, Co-Founder, Wasatch Theatre Company
- Lucy Ridolphi, just completed Salt Lake Film Society’s Utah Screenwriters Program
The first year of the lab will culminate in free reading of scenes and monologues by all 6 playwrights on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 7pm in the Studio Theatre as part of Plan-B Theatre’s Script-In-Hand Series.
The Lab was launched in 2008 with eight playwrights, all of whom were produced locally during their two-year tenure in The Lab. In 2009, four directors were added to The Lab.
