I sincerely apologize for any miscommunications concerning this issue. This play is written by Michael Brill. It was never our intention to claim otherwise. We regret the oversight and are working to educate our volunteers on this matter. We were going through such a difficult time, first loosing our venue to perform in, then having to delay production with a cast that had been involved since rehearsal began in early November. The Tribune was interviewing me in the middle of all the commotion, last minute rehearsals and technical adjustments. It was mentioned that I adapt the shows we perform at the Academy. This is true, however I did not write this piece. I would not like taking credit for other people's work and have no reason to do so. Thank you for the comment that we bring another interesting mix to the same old stuff. Please come see my adaptation Of "The Little Mermaid" at the Masonic Temple beginning in May. Written, adapted for the stage and directed by Collin Kreuzer.
We hope to see you there.

Interesting. The Article in the SL Tribune has been updated to exclude that in the first line. Here is what the article said originally "His cast of "The Masque of Beauty and the Beast" is about half what he originally planned when he adapted the script, and the set has recently been reassembled at a new venue,..." Perhaps the Academy noted the change to the Tribune and is finally changing their practices of taking ownership of other playwright's work. That would be great. While the Academy needs a lot of work, they bring another interesting theatre company in the midst of the same old stuff. I hope they can continue to progress and not stamp their name on other author's work.

Thank you for that information. After reading the article in the Tribune I don't believe that Kreuzer bills himself as the author, but rather as the adapter of the script. I completely agree that the playwright should be acknowledged and am making the proper adjustments to our review above. Thank you again.

As quoted in the review: "The script was new to me. Though it’s not the version made familiar by Disney, this version of the script (the playwright was unlisted) " Collin Kreuzer bills himself recently in the Tribune ( http://www.sltrib.com/ci_14452165 ) as the author. Unfortunately this is not the first time Mr. Kreuzer has billed himself as an author of a script not his own. I hope this doesn't come across to harsh, but the auther should be given his proper acknowledgement. "Masque of Beauty & the Beast" was expertly penned by Michael Brill and has been performed by other theatre companies in Utah. Brill's script is a gem and should be given proper credit.
